Responsible Fishing
Fishing is our passion, and we act responsibly to preserve our resources and minimize impact on our ecosystem. We are constantly evolving our techniques of catching tuna and improving our tools to minimize the impact on the stock and eliminate waste in our oceans.
Our Area of Operation
Fishing regulations and stock management compliance
We are proud of contributing to and promoting sustainable fishing in tuna species with responsible harvest methods and are committed to reducing impact to our ocean and ecosystem.
We comply with the recommendations and resolutions of the Regional Fisheries Management Organizations (RFMO) in our case we fall under the Inter-American Tropical Tuna Commission (IATTC), the area of the Eastern Pacific where our fishing fleet operates. The IATTC dictates our fishing bans and regulates the fishing effort to help balance the species and avoid overfishing. Our operating area of fishing is determined by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) is between the Areas of FAO 77 & 87, excluding exclusive economic zones (EEZ), which require licenses to access.
Our daily catch
Sustainability depends on our practices and respect for the environment
Purse seining merges craft with technology, yielding efficient catches with low latency bycatch. We operate a fleet of purse seiners in tropical waters that work with a nylon net and skiff to encircle targeted tuna species. The art of purse seining consists in locating a tuna mass considered to be school fish or using Fish Aggregating Devices (FADS). The usage in quantity of FADS allowed is determined by the Inter-American Tropical Tuna Commission (IATTC). In collaboration with the IATTC we are implementing prototype trials of FADS built from non-synthetic materials to minimize impact on our ecosystem.

Fishery Improvement Project
Grupo Jadran is an active member of TUNACONS, a Fishery Improvement Project (FIP) which aims to provide transparency and promote actions for the sustainability of the tuna purse-seine fishery in the Eastern Pacific Ocean. We have been awarded the Marine Stewardship Council Certification (MSC) in Tuna Conservation through the accomplishment of a working plan to preserve the species and provide a transparency chain to consumers.
